Mary Pat2 weeks agoMary PatWhen I am grateful, I see things so differently! The world is a better place, and I strive to see the good in everyone. My focus is different, and that makes all the difference. For me at that point, compassion is a deep well that never goes dry. 2 Reply Ose2 weeks agoOseTo me it feels that gratefulness and compassion are both rooted in the same source. They are siblings who care fore one another, so to say. Like we do. In being grateful, it is like hugging my brothers and sisters and it encloses being naturally compassionate with their suffering. I am grateful for the gift you are. Thank you for being with me here in this life, and I care for you and from my heart, I wish you all the best. 🙏✨ 4 Reply Don Jones2 weeks agoDon JonesIt helps me make friends with that which is. The Truth is that which is. Being, from a position of Truth, is being awake. Being awake brings the left hand and the right hand together as one. 2 Reply MemoPC2 weeks agoMemoPCGratitude shows me that everything in my life is a gift which I did not earn. Each gift is an expression of mercy and something that is unmerited . Recognizing this in my own life creates space in my heart to extend that same unmerited mercy to others – the result is compassion. 3 Reply Hermann-Josef2 weeks agoHermann-JosefGratefulness brings inner peaceful joy to me (sometimes I don’t even remember why I am grateful). This peace makes my mind clear. I see how everybody is struggling to get some happiness or peace of mind. We are all sitting in the same boat with different colored glasses on our nose. How could I not be compassionate with other beings, though I don’t like everyones behavior. I treat myself as my best friend and so I try to treat other beings as well as I am able to. 4 Reply devy2 weeks agodevyGratefulness opens my heart to others, allowing empathy, love and understanding to arise and settle within my soul 3 Reply Carol2 weeks agoCarol“To love, my brothers and sisters, does not mean we have to agree. Currey How does gratefulness deepen my compassion for others? Com-passion means “to come with passion…to arrive already caring.” An attitude of gratitude frees us to arrive to all situations with both an open mind and an open heart. An attitude of gratitude nurtures both self and others. There is a hymn that says, “Come, O Come, and fill this temple.” The temple is not a building. We are the temple. If gratitude and compassion do not fill us, we cannot be instruments of the outpouring–what many call the Second Coming. The Greek word, sozo is usually translated “saved” but it can also mean “healed/restored.” We are all wounded but let us choose to be wounded healers. Maybe it is these energies that help me to have the sincere desire or wish to act to alleviate the suffering of another. 2 Reply Holly in Ohio2 weeks agoHolly in OhioGratefulness – for others – deepens my compassion. 4 Reply Chester2 weeks agoChesterThey use the same muscle of genuinely noticing – whether genuinely noticing areas of simple abundance or genuinely noticing areas of need – indeed practicing compassion and gratitude support one another. 3 Reply Barb C2 weeks agoBarb CMy first reflex was that I have been given so much for which to be grateful that it makes me more compassionate toward those who haven't been so fortunate. It’s still true at one level–I *have* been given much, I feel compassion toward those in less fortunate circumstances. But it’s also humanity reaching toward humanity, being centered in myself and in the world and able to recognize the “thou” in others regardless of whether one of us is seemingly more fortunate than the other.
