Misty1 year agoMistyIt brings mutual love and respect. I can see how my ideas and path are not the only ones possible. It provides a shoulder to lean on in tough times, and shared celebrations of others’ special times. 0 Reply Arleen1 year agoArleenBeing in a community grounds me, shapes my perceptions, and allows me to experiment with new thoughts and ideas–a different way of looking at things and doing things to get to the same goal. Or maybe a better goal. On the flip side, it shows me what I don’t want. 1 Reply Malag1 year agoMalagYou get to connect. You get to help. You get to be helped. 4 Reply Maeve1 year agoMaeveGives me the opportunity to notice my reactions and what I bump up against right away. Sometimes takes me out of my own focus, when I see what others are dealing with. And sometimes, as in tonight, it’s comforting to ask for help and receive it. 3 Reply Dawn Elaine1 year agoDawn ElaineThe community I belong to stretches me. Especially the irritating members. The passive-aggressives and the attention hogs. I am very gradually learning to at least step back and pause. Then breathe a little. Then ask if I think these really annoying people are doing the best they can. Slowly, I'm able to realize that they are. Slowly, I’m able to realize that they are. Then there’s more space for me to ask myself what about their behavior irritates me so much. I often find that either it’s something I do myself, or something I have done in similar circumstances. Makes it easier to keep quiet about my very important opinion. Community adds a dimension, a complexity, a colorfulness to my life. Without community I feel my life would be very boring & lonely. Thanks to All here, who make me feel like I am part of this community. People come and go along the street, walking their dogs, chatting with one another, waving to a neighbor. I enjoy hearing the sounds of a lawnmower and the smell of the cut grass wafting through the neighborhood. I like that we look out for one another and share each others lives. I want to be a witness to the human drama called Life. 6 Reply Mica1 year agoMicaThat’s wonderful, DeVonna, to be welcoming city sounds, even lawnmowers! 3 Reply Present Moment1 year agoPresent MomentBeing part of community provides the mirrors necessary for greater wisdom. 6 Reply Zenith1 year agoZenithAs I don’t know which community is being referred to I will address both. As a lone person without a car I am forced to live within city limits to take advantage of public transit. People see me almost every day. They know how I am. As a member of this community and others like it, I receive encouragement be for my spiritual journey. That is more important than anything. It really keeps me going. For all it’s problems I thank God for the internet and the phone that enables this. 6 Reply Michele1 year agoMichelecommunity definition: a group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common.
