Or push it to the point where I find that it cannot do something. Don’t know why I enjoy that, but I do. 6 Reply Chuck7 months agoChuckEveryday is an opportunity to reinvent yourself! Be creative by changing your routine; being kind(er) to others; being (more) grateful and try something new (new receipt; new way to get to work; new work connection; develop a new skill or rekindle an old one). It’s difficult but when you do it; positive energy flows through you. 11 Reply MemoPC7 months agoMemoPCBeing brave enough to try something new requires a certain level of creativity. I like repurposing old things and try to stretch my mind to think outside it’s usual box. Lately I have been baking fancy 3 layer cakes for family birthday parties. I like that I can find people willing to share their talents on U-tube which helps me to venture into new territory. 😊 8 Reply Mary Pat7 months agoMary PatThrough writing, and cooking, and baking. brainstorming with others is always a creative endeavor. 7 Reply Ose7 months agoOseI feel creativity sometimes appears as a part of how I might support people, ideas that come up when unconditional space is there; singing is something I love, but in my way of singing, i would not name it creative. Cooking together with friends I experience as a creative process, using mostly no recipe, simply using what the kitchen offers, which, nevertheless, most of the time tastes delicious, as my friends say, without me really knowing why. I feel they are both creative. 6 Reply Hot Sauce7 months agoHot SauceI express creativity through my writing. When I write, I feel myself sinking into a flow of thoughts and ideas that sometimes allow me to articulate what I was previously unable to articulate verbally. 6 Reply Don Jones7 months agoDon JonesThrough preservation, conservation and restoration of antique furniture – working with wood and leather, carving, oils and waxes with my hands in the material sense and the stories and provenance in an immaterial sense. 7 Reply TofuLove7 months agoTofuLoveI'm not sure how creative I am. Often I look at things people have done and am like, wow that is so creative ... for me creativity is related to openness, to spaciousness. The more open I feel the more there is a spontaneity that seems like a creativity and that is related to my capacity to be present with my experience, honest with my experience while also striving to create more space and freedom mentally for myself. I think for me it’s that’s spontaneous joyful quality where it just happens, the dishes I cook come out beautiful and innovative, the actions in my everyday life seem more joyful and funny, it’s a whole way of expression of something inside that’s honest and sort of easy/spacious. I love doing it, especially when I can capture someone’s spirit. 7 Reply dcdeb7 months agodcdebI like to write and create zentangles. 6 Reply Malag7 months agoMalagFascinating. Had never heard of this. Thanks. 4 Reply Mica7 months agoMicaLots of ways. Ideas come to me for new ways to do old things, such as ‘furnishing’ my guinea pig’s cage, or tending my balcony plants, for example. Making improv quilts. Turning pieces of paper into greeting cards, such as the ones with patterns on them that I drew at the calligraphy table at the adult craft night. I’m surprised at how many new ways I find to do old things now, in my old age. 7 Reply pkr7 months agopkrI write. I write thoughtful, heartfelt notes to family & friends. Often I do pen drawings on the notes I send. I collect art postcards, & place them all over my home, a little art museum of my own! 🙂 6 Reply Lauryn7 months agoLaurynTaking photos and playing music, writing. I wish I had more free time to devote to these things. 7 Reply Cathie7 months agoCathieBy dancing, singing, coloring, creating lesson plans, presenting/sharing information, decorating my home, cooking, planning a garden and then watching spring to life, craft projects like scrapbooking, and probably many other ways:) 6 Reply serenity7 months agoserenityi write. over the years, i’ve come to realise that creativity isn’t about capturing perfection, but about the process: the unexpected turns; the happy mistakes. realizing that the only thing i need is to have fun & enjoy the journey of my craft inspires me to put the first word on the page. 🙂 8 Reply Elaine7 months agoElaineI think creativity is not only about producing concrete things but also about a way of being that looks for ways to be generative. A juicy conversation is creative. Making an open day fulfilling is creative. Finding humour in a stressful moment is creative. Pivoting from a set plan in the moment is creative. Making authentic relationships is creative. Making a meal when there’s “nothing” in the fridge is creative. Adding your voice to my voice is creative. 13 Reply Journey7 months agoJourneyThat is some awesome perspective Elaine! 3 Reply Linda7 months agoLindaYou are always spot on, Elaine! I have had to let go and accept that many of my abilities that I deemed creative are things I can no longer do but reading this quote and writing about it helped me to realize that trusting one’s creativity is important even when our talents have waned. The meditation follows: What does it mean to“trust my creativity?” How often do I allow myself to pause, stop and enjoy the “natural unfolding of life?” How often do I let go and let life flow in and through me? If I truly believe that life is trust worthy, that I will always be shown a way through, why can’t I relax? Perhaps, the challenge is my “ordinary way of looking at things.” I still, after 79 years on this earth, fear failure, crave acceptance, struggle to feel of worth. I am wounded. We are all wounded but to quote Henri Nouwen, “May we become wounded healers.” Perhaps the key to this quote is the word “creativity.” How often do I remember that we are all Creator? What we think, what we do matters. And so I pray: May I, may you, may we all develop a healthy love and acceptance of self that shares, cares and creates a kinder world.
