Oklahoma was one of them and they were many others. Why this popped into my mind today I don’t know but my spirit must be hungering for deep happiness. 6 Reply Michele3 months agoMicheleFor me, my grandparents had an 8 track and would play Fiddler On The Roof. Love those songs:) 1 Reply Holly in Ohio3 months agoHolly in OhioI’m laughing out loud because I often wake with a seemingly random tune in my head. I have come to feel it is often our subconscious speaking to us the only way it can! 3 Reply Mike S3 months agoMike SHow true. My deep mind wants me to know a happier experience is coming my way this year, thanks to God. 2 Reply Holly in Ohio3 months agoHolly in OhioThe lyrics are really quite beautiful...! And I say this not to be glib, but to be honest. I have never been one for New Year’s resolutions, other than saying goodbye to holiday eating. For me, every new day is a chance to do something new, or, to continue finishing what I began anew yesterday or the day before. Happy New Year, to all the fine folks who make this site what it is. Thank you! 10 Reply Amy3 months agoAmyI’m with you, Kevin. I don’t see January 1st as some magical thing and yet, it does have a slight feeling, this year particularly, of “newness” to it – we’re seeming to “turn a corner” to getting back some sense of normalcy now that there is a vaccine. And yet, then I got a message from a dear friend’s son that his mom has early on-set Alzheimers and I’m feeling heartbroken. 1 Reply Kevin3 months agoKevinAlzheimer’s is one cruel disease, Amy, that’s for sure. Holding your friend and his mom in prayer….. I agree too that this year, saying goodbye to 2020, and starting anything new, a new year, new hope, and in the US, new leadership coming in, is 100% welcome by me for sure! Let’s all hope and pray that now get the vaccine into the arms of the human race asap! And with that, Happy New Year!! 2 Reply Amy3 months agoAmyYes to vaccine! Yes to new leadership! Thanks for holding my friend in your prayers. I’ve known her about 40 years now…ever since I started babysitting for her when I was about 12 or so. 0 Reply Mike S3 months agoMike SThanks KevIn. I appreciate your sincerity. 3 Reply Carla3 months agoCarlaBy adding a new daily prayer: To grow in “Trusting the magic of beginnings” (M Eckart). There is a new place of employment awaiting me! Only some of our 22 team members are rowing due to the pandemic, and we never know when the Governor might roll back “small craft” water sports due to the virus. But you’re welcome to be with us when the pandemic ends….we’d like that. My cell is 508-742-8709. Tuck it away for the future and give me a call when you’re in our area post-pandemic. Today, we have two boats, 2/3 of our total team members, (six man crews) rowing at 0800 for a 5.5 mile row around Butler Light located outside of the harbor of New Bedford, MA. Right now, it’s 24 degrees….it’s chilly! The oldest man who rows with us is 87! And me, at 70, talk about “no excuses!” 6 Reply Mike S3 months agoMike SKevin, rowing in that kind of weather takes real dedication, I rowed Thursday in a full 8 and we had 60 degree weather. Down here in Beaufort at 7 am that can sometimes feel cool. 2 Reply Kevin3 months agoKevinHello Mike, Years ago before any of us retired, we used to row at 5:30 AM, then 5:45, then 6:00, 6:30 and now 7:00 AM. I keep ribbing my teammates that before long we’ll be rowing in the afternoon! Same with the weather; our too cold to row cut-off temp was 15 degrees, now it’s 20 with even the wind chill factored in! But once we’re all in the boat and pushing off the dock, we don’t pay much attention to the temperature anyway. 0 Reply Mike S3 months agoMike SKevin, Temps near or below freezing here in So Carolina would keep most of us rowers in bed as we are spoiled with pretty temperate weather and are used to Reinhardt year round. Where do you row out of? 0 Reply 333USA3 months ago333USABravo Kevin and Howie. I miss the comraderie of team sports. I admire your perseverance and fortitude. I just added a WaterRower to my cardio rotation last month. I’ll be praying for Kevin next time I look outside my NJ home at the winter weather thinking he’s a better man than I. 2 Reply Carla3 months agoCarlaRow On Howie!!
