Can’t my love for it be just good enough? Do I need to compete with myself to have it be best? Good enough is noticing the moment of the clock’s tick, hearing the dawn chorus of birds, feeling the cool air on my skin. And hopefully generally behaving in ways that help mitigate climate damage.
How I care for and honor myself is how I can best love not only myself, but the world. I work on my inner world, so I can be my best for the outside world.
The better I learn to love and care for myself, the better I am able to love the people and world around me. This is such a tough, challenging journey, but/ and without learning and practicing to love myself, i am really not much good or use to anyone else. I know it is not about me but/ and, nor is about giving myself away as a martyr to other peoples or the world’s agendas, interests or needs. I am looking for a comfortable both/ and these days, and it seems to require a fair bit of self-compassion and love. Without that, really, I am really not much good to anyone or anything. It feels like a tough and important journey…
And I do love the world. Sometimes I struggle with the idea that we should not love the world as we are made for greater things, but I am grateful for each day for this life I have been gifted.
So how can I best love the world, by doing my best to take care of the earth and the people in it. Especially those places and people I have been given..
Sometimes the picture comes to my mind that all living creatures are different kinds of rare and beautiful flowers, living in and nourished by one big flowerpot. 🌹🌺🌸🌼🌻🌷🍀🍄🪴
I think of myself as a piece in a puzzle.
My self puzzle- I try to check whether that “peace” is how I am right minded with myself. Am I trying to force something?
The family puzzle – how am I fitting in position to those relationships and again when I am in right relationships we fit together easily..
The broader community puzzle is much the same – asking daily how I can best fit with the needs of others that I touch during my day.
The world puzzle – that is a huge puzzle and my “piece” seems very insignificant but
I look for ways to contribute to our planet in positive ways that respects life.
I think I best love the world when my “peace” fits smoothly into the other pieces around me in all those contexts.
By reigning in my anger before interacting with others? Yesterday I did fabric art – working on quilt tops – to find a calm place before contacting tech support, and my mind is so so much more useful when it’s in a calm place
By practicing compassion with others, accepting differences even though I might now agree, by spreading words of love and peace. By respecting Mother Earth and contribute by doing my part looking after her.
Saying “the world” makes this an enormous question. The world is many, many pieces and parts encountered at small scale so I need to start with those “pieces”.
“Love is the will to extend one’s self for the purpose of nurturing one’s own or another’s spiritual growth… Love is as love does. Love is an act of will — namely, both an intention and an action. Will also implies choice. We do not have to love. We choose to love.”

We can bring love to anything, including and especially those parts of it we may think of as separate from love, like our professional work.. Today I’ll think of how much I genuinely love my job, and also how I can infuse love into my actions and intentions so I work lovingly.

Why limit it to the world? Awakening, transcending, even for a quarter of a second, makes all the difference.

By being kind. Spreading love & joy all over. ❤️🌸🙏

As Br. David says:
. Everything is surprise
I’m in love with today’s poem and the happenings that have opened to me.
. Love is transformative

Develop and sustain myself, while simultaneously giving and supporting to the greatest of my ability.
