Malag2 months agoMalagBy turning off the news media for a while and giving little me a rest. I’m better able to be of service generally if I am functioning well. 3 Reply Charlie T2 months agoCharlie TToday I was able to help out an elderly neighbor with a phone problem. She calls occasionally when she needs some help with something. She’s always so apologetic, but really, I’m more than happy to help out. I was also able to learn a bit more about her and her late husband. Just another opportunity to connect. 4 Reply David2 months agoDavidI’m answering this at the end of the day, and perhaps that’s a good thing because I suspect that I would not have had any idea how to answer before the day unfolded. However, the day presented me with at least 2 opportunities to help that I responded to positively. One was just spending time with a neighbor who lives alone and has been sick. The other was responding to a request for help at work. The other was responding to a request for help at work. Neither opportunity was expected, and I am grateful that 1) I was put in a position to help rather than needing help myself, and 2) was present enough to recognize the opportunities and respond with an open heart. Curiously enough I also spent a lot of time away from work today, and felt a bit guilty about that. But it ended up being a very productive day, more so than most workdays, simply because I did step away and make myself available to what others needed rather than what I thought I had to do. In any case, it was a good day. I can trust that what presents itself to me today will be an opportunity for me to be of service. 1 Reply Cathie2 months agoCathieTake time to listen today to someone who needs to talk. 5 Reply Ed Schulte2 months agoEd SchulteThis is called, “Send forth the light”. Your aura will be shining, you would see the rays penetrating to to a limitless degree. You would see the light flowing from you touching the hearts, the understanding, even the physical life of your fellow men. You can do this exercise, this meditation, we’ve given you today, if you wish, every day for 10 or 15 minutes. Of course, there are many ways to help in this bad and difficult situation. One of them also is this meditation. By doing so, when the time comes where others need help we are better prepared to be there. 3 Reply Hermann-Josef2 months agoHermann-JosefBy being available for those who need my help. And by finding moments to recreate, pray and relax so that strength will come back. By knowing what I see is god seen by the eyes. What I hear is hearing god by the ears. What I smell , I know this is how god smells once he is smelled by the nose. . . 4 Reply Antoinette2 months agoAntoinetteSlow down and be grateful for the peace of this moment. 4 Reply Blossom2 months agoBlossomstart the day with a smile and an open heart 3 Reply Chester2 months agoChesterStill impressed by the collective input yesterday that drew from the wisdom of many years, I will try to apply some of the wisdom that stuck with me the most toward service today. I will first ensure my tree is watered and tools prepared, then follow my heart to move closer to the truth, lighting candles where I may, never, never, never giving up, focusing on doing all things, great or small, with great love. 5 Reply Mica2 months agoMicaYes, Chester – the Greenwood quote about the tree – I delighted in that one, being a Greenwood myself. I shared it with my 2 Greenwood bros. 1 Reply Carol2 months agoCarolThanks to everyone for their reflections. They have been most helpful to me today. 2 Reply alara2 months agoalaraI had to sit with the question for quite awhile because my “good intentions “ came bounding in, and I know where that has taken me. So now, today is open to surprise! I am going to step into the moment and let it show me. Wow, this is new! 2 Reply Mica2 months agoMicaI like that, alara – we can be open to the ways of being useful to others today – I see only my 2 classes today, where it seems more like others will be of service to me 🙂 1 Reply Anna2 months agoAnnaletting myself being surprised, watching a hawk flying down from the mountain, near the company where I was this morning. When my client, Maria, exclaimed: “Anna look at that hawk!”, a moment of awe, pure natural joy, shared with Maria … a little pause of human experience during a professional job. 4 Reply sunnypatti2 months agosunnypattiI’m not sure how I’m needed today, but I look forward to finding out! 4 Reply Mica2 months agoMicaYou and me both, sunnypatti – it’s too early for me to know how – or if! – I’ll be of service today. Oh! I will be of service to my guinea pig, as always, because she depends on me 🙂 2 Reply Laura2 months agoLauraToday’s quote pretty much sums it up for me. Offering what we already possess – kindness, care, groundedness – is an excellent starting point to serve others. 4 Reply Mary Pat2 months agoMary PatBy taking care of myself first, which is what I am doing right now….that quote from yesterday someone shared meant alot to me….so thank you whoever did it…..and here it is. ..‘Come away from the din. Come away to the quiet fields, over which the great sky stretches, and where, between us, and the stars, there lies but silence; and there, in the stillness let us listen to the voice that is speaking within us.’ 4 Reply Butterfly2 months agoButterflyToday’s quote means so much to me. Being mostly bedbound and dependent on others to care for me and help me it’s hard to see how I can be of service to anyone. But I have realised that just being kind and considerate to those who are helping me makes them feel cared for too. My adult children also know there is a listening ear here too whenever they need one. 12 Reply Hermann-Josef2 months agoHermann-JosefTo give someone the opportunity to help is a great gift and service to that person. 2 Reply alara2 months agoalaraOh, Butterfly, this is it, this is it. Thank you. 2 Reply Carol2 months agoCarolYour words make me feel cared for, dear Butterfly. Every thing is energy and yours is beautiful. 2 Reply Patricia2 months agoPatriciaWe’re having an ice storm so schools are closed and it’s dangerous to be out on the roads. I will call two older friends and check in on them… and be open to whatever else presents itself. 4 Reply 1 2 Next » My Private Gratitude Journal Write an entry in your private gratefulness journal Get Started This site is brought to you by A Network for Grateful Living, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
