Ose1 year agoOseTo composting organic waste, always being careful with spending water, buying regionally and quality not quantity oriented, using coffee grounds, which keeps some moisture and acidity for nourishing the plants in our garden which need sour marshy soil like Rhododendron and Hortensias having suffered lack of wet before (and they flower beautifully now!), leaving the residues of desire for meat behind. 0 Reply Emily1 year agoEmilyGratefulness inspires me to act on behalf of my cares and concern for the Earth and our Global Family. I love the Earth and am grateful for the Earth. Because of this I try to do my part to save the environment through recycling, reducing and reusing. I try not to litter as well. I want to leave a healthy Earth for our Global Family. 1 Reply LeanIn1 year agoLeanInGratefulness for the beauty I see around me and what blessings I have inspires me to do what I can to help save the Earth's resources and give to others around the globe. I feel like my concern is that the problems of ecology and clean water and air around the world will never be solved and that big corporations and government have so much control. But then I also think that if every person tries their best, it will at least add up to something better. That’s what I hope for when I do my small part. Earth Day soon. Each small step counts. Time to get ready! Each year my wanna be gardener starts over. Pulled out my trusty ‘Twelve month gardener’ book and turned to March. Will start by reconsidering our compost this weekend. Also must tend to the rhubarb, which is equally neglected. I suppose it starts with attention, and a wee bit of intention too… 6 Reply Hot Sauce1 year agoHot SauceWhen I look at the beauties of the earth, such as birds, trees, insects, fungi, and other beautiful forms of life, it motivates me to reconnect to the earth in my daily life. Gratefulness for the divine Presence found in everyone also inspires me to want to fight for social justice because, when justice is done to our fellow creatures, justice is done for the Divine. How I will go about creating justice for the oppressed and marginalized, however, is a question I am struggling with. Thank you to all those who have contributed and made me realise it IS worth it -and, if we all do something small, it has a BIG impact. The realization of being connected to everything brings a deep level of care, compassion and gratitude for everything. 7 Reply Linda1 year agoLindaI am conscious of my water usage, my trash, I recycle everything I can. I am aware of our fossil fuel usage and keep it down. I don’t drive a lot unless I need to, diminishing my carbon output. Plastics drive me crazy–very little opportunity to recycle so much of it. I do my best and do not buy things that are overpackaged in plastic and cardboard, and I use my own grocery bags. We all need to be conscious of what we do to harm (or support) Mother Nature. 6 Reply Holly in Ohio1 year agoHolly in OhioDear friends, What you do, matters. It matters when you carry a bottle of water or utensils instead of disposables, or when you buy less but buy responsibly. All of these things matter, and I just had news from one of my sources that actions like this and others ARE making a difference, that experts say we are now on a guarded trajectory for limiting the worst of climate change before the end of this century. It is my hope that (as with Covid masks and social distancing) that we are in the early days of gaining momentum. Please add one more little habit today, and maybe talk to a friend. Each little step added helps our global family. It matters, and matters all the more because we are making it “normal” to carry our own water bottle and grocery bags, which makes it easier for others to do the same. This week I soaked a little dried up dead looking tuber and planted it, and yesterday saw the first tiny green of strawberry leaves on it. I am so immensely grateful for the regenerative powers of nature, for the multitude of gifts it gives us, and it so easy to be joyful when you watch the little miracles it makes each moment. I’m extremely conscious of how much trash I create. I’m grateful for the fact that my small town has a re-cycle program and I support it. I support politicians who believe in climate change and urge them to enact legislation that supports dealing with it nationally and globally. I try not to release negative energy into the world. I pray daily to be and instrument of peace and compassion but honestly, this question leaves me feeling helpless and small. I do not see many ways I can actually help alleviate climate change. It reminds me of how helpless I felt when the Deep Horizon Oil Spill in 2010 pumped 200 million gallons of crude oil into the Gulf of Mexico for a total of 87 days, making it the biggest oil spill in U.S. history. 16,000 total miles of coastline were affected, including the coasts of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida. I was living in Louisiana at the time and I wrote the following poem: Ode to Mother Nature, A Response to the 2010 Oil Spill in the Gulf, O Mother of us all, We watch you while you bleed. We’ve drilled a hole in your heart. We’ve harmed your creative reed. O Mother of us all, Fingers point here and there. We want to blame and shame. Our guilt we cannot bear. O Mother of us all, When will we learn to see? We dwell within your womb. Without you, we cease to be. Orphans we’ve become Through our own collective fault When will we stop this rampage, this unrelenting assault on the Mother of us all? Read More5 Reply Ana Maria1 year agoAna MariaJust gorgeous! Being grateful/ Connecting to Nature has enhanced my lifestyle by : Positively improving my mental health condition as well as my client’s. Grant me access to travel with General Anxiety Disor. Increased my recognition & acknowledgement. Reduce any tension or stress I had in my day to day routine. Improved my relationships with my parents and loved ones Inspired me to have compassion & patience especially for myself Shown me how to understand what TRUE LOVE is; which will allow me to LOVE OTHERS genuinely and have valuable long term relationships. Have faith that I could be supported & welcomed even after leaving behind my old life (Modern Slavery Mindset) Reminds me that I am a warrior myself like Mother Nature & respected. I like to say you are what you eat, however I take it to the next level and describe how we choose to feed the Earth is how we feed ourselves. WE are eating what we give out & a lot of us are eating trash. Treating your home poorly is showing we have no regard to our bodies & minds. The Earth is an extension of how we treat ourselves & how we feel about ourselves. With my mental conditions Nature has healed me by demonstrating her strength, resistance, determination, while giving life and being very calm & safe. I am also able to relate to Nature where I am able to heal myself…Mother Nature/ The Universe are all connected & come from the main/same source. Like they say dont s*%! where you sleep…well some of us have interesting pillows hahahah WE ARE ALL CONNECTED TO NATURE MAKING US CONNECTED TO EACH-OTHER, we are branches of the same tree and should support each other in this fashion Read More7 Reply Holly in Ohio1 year agoHolly in Ohio“The Earth is an extension of how we treat ourselves & how we feel about ourselves.” –brilliantly insightful. I’ve grown up being a nature boy and I’m well aware how much support and spiritual nourishment I get from the nature around me. Water, trees, flowers, sky and sun.. I could go on for pages. So for me what we call God inhabit everything in the natural world. It is our source, guide and true blessing. 8 Reply Holly in Ohio1 year agoHolly in OhioI missed your presence yesterday, Mike. I live with abundance; I don’t need to protect the scarcity that I have; but can give of my abundance to that which the world needs. Unfortunately, I don’t live with such constant inspiration, but inspired often enough that I drive forward with my daily work. I am grateful that this work is grounded in Service to others. 10 Reply sunnypatti1 year agosunnypattiKnowing that I am connected to all that is - and being grateful for that truth - is why I make an effort to do my part for the earth and all of its inhabitants. I am also conscious of my thoughts and the energy I send out into the world, as I feel these are important as well. Thoughts become things. Energy is shared. I want only love and light to ripple from me. If another feels safe or loved or grateful because of something I did (whether I know it or not), then I feel like I have done my part. Taking care of the earth is important, but so is taking care of ourselves and those around us. It’s all connected by a Universal thread of love!
