KC3 weeks agoKCOk – this took about a day to process, but never mind… Radical acceptance – of self, others, life, and ‘the way things are’ – in the moment, step by step, breath by breath, day by day. With a little help from my friends, and the Great Mystery. Practice. Practice. Practice. A definite work in progress … 🙂 1 Reply Jerri3 weeks agoJerriThe notion of “imperfection” is just a false ego perception. It is not reality nor does it reflect the truth of who we are. We were created from love. That is who we are. We are a reflection and an expression of our creator – perfect in every way, now and always. Refer to A Course in Miracles for a deeper understanding of how our errors in thinking influence self perception. 1 Reply Lisa Alvarado3 weeks agoLisa AlvaradoFor me, it’s lowering the bar on my perfectionism and unrealistic expectations for myself…hopefully leading to a change in how I see and treat others. 3 Reply Don Jones3 weeks agoDon JonesIt does not require a large eye to see a large mountain. The reason is that, though the eye is small, the soul which sees through it is greater and vaster than all the things which it perceives. In fact, it is so great that it includes all objects, however large or numerous, within itself. For it is not so much that you are within the cosmos as that the cosmos is within you. It all comes back to perception. 3 Reply devy3 weeks agodevyYes we are all imperfect but that’s what makes us unique from each other. Variety is the spice of life . Yes self improvement and setting goals are important but this takes me back in time to the first time as a freshman I reported to football training camp at university. The head coach’s welcoming speech talked about the fact that “we can’t all be jet pilots, doctors, engineers so not all of us can be this teams player list.” 2 Reply Hermann-Josef3 weeks agoHermann-Josefgod is giving himself to each of us as exactly that, what we need at this moment the most. it might seem to be an imperfect thing, situation or person. But it is as absolutely perfect. This can be best seen through the eyes of love 5 Reply Charlie T3 weeks agoCharlie TAh yes, the critical self. I know him well. I find this quote very helpful. “Don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good” Voltaire 5 Reply Elaine3 weeks agoElaineMy church community week by week proclaims “All of you is welcome here”, so I never forget that with all my imperfections I am — we are all — welcomed and loved. 6 Reply Mica3 weeks agoMicaThank you, Elaine, for an unexpected laugh! I thought it was a grammatical error til I read it for about the 3rd time – that’s wonderful! 🙂 2 Reply Elaine3 weeks agoElaineHaha Mica, I had the same response when I first saw it on the church steps. Till I realized It’s “all” in the sense of the whole of me, of you. 1 Reply Cathie3 weeks agoCathieTo embrace our imperfections in ourselves and in others, accept them with humor, humbleness and gentleness. 3 Reply Holly in Ohio3 weeks agoHolly in OhioPerfectly imperfect… We are all quirky. Let us love each other and our own selves, “warts and all.” Let us accept and celebrate the things that make us all different. Let us see the challenges that have shaped us uniquely as points of compassion. It reminds me of the lovely book, “Bridget Jones’ Diary” … “I like you very much. Just as you are.” ― Helen Fielding, Bridget Jones’s Diary 3 Reply Carol3 weeks agoCarolJust do my “perfectly imperfect” best one day at a time! Paradox–always a sign of a deeper truth. 3 Reply Rabbit3 weeks agoRabbitStop judging myself and others. One person’s perfection is not the same as another’s. Now the confession. That little card I committed myself to making yesterday, motivated by yesterday’s question, well I got done but there was a little spot on the bottom corner that I tried to get off five different ways seeking perfection. In the end. I took a pencil and blended it in. It is ready to mail, perfect or not. Progress! 6 Reply Holly in Ohio3 weeks agoHolly in OhioLovely! 😊✒ 2 Reply Rabbit3 weeks agoRabbitI typed stop and meant spot. There is some imperfection. Don’t you wish all errors could be edited? 🙂 2 Reply Mica3 weeks agoMicaYes – that would be nice! Actually, I light some candles here to wish peace to those to whom I think I have ‘erred’ in my behavior towards 🙂 2 Reply Christine3 weeks agoChristineI read the question and immediately this answer came to my mind. “I know nothing about imperfection”. I’ll give this answer to you, but I’ll have to think about it myself. Of course I know what imperfection means. I probably won’t care so much whether something is perfect or not. 4 Reply Mica3 weeks agoMicaAnother laugh here today – your immediate answer made me laugh, for which I’m grateful. Warm wishes to you, Christine 🙂 <3 1 Reply Christine3 weeks agoChristineAnd to you, Mica 🌷 2 Reply Hjt3 weeks agoHjtToday tests my imperfection as Pope Francis visits my country to apologize for the role the church played in residential schools. My heart aches as I struggle to be with the process of reconciliation and be in solidarity with the indigenous people of Canada. May we be healed! 9 Reply Hjt3 weeks agoHjtThank you Elaine and Holly. I think the Indigenous community can teach the church how valuable women are in faith traditions. Read More1 Reply Elaine3 weeks agoElaineI’m with you Hjt. Such high expectations that this papal visit be meaningful. And will it be enough – will it ever be enough? I witness as one on the path toward being an honourable ally. 2 Reply Holly in Ohio3 weeks agoHolly in OhioA tough job, Hjt. A worthy effort. My heart is with you and with those hurting over this. ❤ 3 Reply EJP3 weeks agoEJPImperfection is freedom….to be myself and enjoy life on my terms. 5 Reply Carla3 weeks agoCarlaAs I reflected on this question, I saw a Potter’s wheel. I know the Potter isn’t done forming the mound of clay that I am. Today I’m trusting the process. Yes it’s messy! As the wheels turn what’s not needed in my form splats into yours and vice versa. Our intersectionality may create beauty or chaos. That’s the Joy of Living! 5 Reply Holly in Ohio3 weeks agoHolly in OhioWhat a beautiful analogy, Carla! Thank you!!!! 2 Reply Michele3 weeks agoMicheleOur imperfections is what makes us unique. Self-love teaches us to love ourselves, even our imperfections. How I do this is to try not to be negative and be grateful. Each day is a new fresh start:) 5 Reply Maria Martins3 weeks agoMaria MartinsWe are all worthy of love but we should always love ourselves with our flaws first: we are as imperfect as we should to be someone special! 5 Reply Antoinette3 weeks agoAntoinetteToday’s quote and question are exactly perfect! All I can do now is surrender these painful ideas, thoughts, justifications, judgments and desires- these selfish- self centered mind pictures are Poisonous! These are what separates me from the Truth . Today I am close to a migraine, but I’m so grateful to have god/the universe holding me patiently. Tenderly with true love. Or, at least, that’s my not humble scientific opinion. Wishing you well – and wellness 🙂 2 Reply Antoinette3 weeks agoAntoinetteYes, agree and I stress before I get the migraine. Of course because I don’t want to give in and stop . I have trouble stopping to rest. It’s something I’m working on. Thank you . 1 Reply Mica3 weeks agoMicaThat’s a big challenge, dear Antoinette – you may be doing what’s as good as anything to do – stopping to ‘rest’ and wait for the migraine to [not] come – that doesn’t sound ideal either! Take a walk? Listen to music or chanting? Those might not work either 😐 Warm wishes to you! 🙂 1 Reply sparrow3 weeks agosparrowYou are held gently, dear Antoinette with love…♥ 1 Reply Holly in Ohio3 weeks agoHolly in OhioMy sympathies, Antoinette. I hope you are able to get some water and rest to ease and prevent a migraine today. Your friends are holding you in their hearts! ❤ 3 Reply Antoinette3 weeks agoAntoinetteThank you so much . You can’t know how much it means to know people care. 🥰 1 Reply Kevin3 weeks agoKevinOh, I can say with a high degree of confidence that I excel at imperfection!
