Many of us take it all too seriously all the time. 0 Reply Malag1 year agoMalagI can be perfect at this embracing imperfection thing, if only I try harder, push myself. Yes I can be perfect at it, will be top of the class, please people, won’t fail……. / basically don’t do above. 0 Reply Arleen1 year agoArleenMany, many years ago there was a saying that said, "God doesn't make junk." By believing that God doesn't make junk, I can accept my imperfections because they were created by God. What are the imperfections any way? They are the thoughts of others that measure us by their standards. For example, the giraffe, with its long neck. That looks strange to me, no other animal has such a strange neck. I know I would look ridiculous with such a long neck. Is that an imperfection? That looks strange to me, no other animal has such a strange neck. I know I would look ridiculous with such a long neck. Is that an imperfection? No, for whatever reason God created this animal with a long neck we don’t know why, but it isn’t junk. That is just one example of so many that I could cite, however, it does prove my point. So maybe I have imperfections, but for whatever reason I have them, God created me that way. And who is to say that I am imperfect? Someone who has a neck that is too long? Once in a while, I’ll listen to that voice, because under the blaming and self-berating may be a place that needs tender love and healing. 6 Reply Don Jones1 year agoDon JonesBy testing by every available means that paradoxical idea that God resides within… just in case it should turn out to be true. 2 Reply Arleen1 year agoArleenI believe that God does reside within. 0 Reply Antoinette1 year agoAntoinetteI think this question is interesting. Perfection is a notion much like many of our notions and labels. In Oder to be free from these concepts or notions it’s best to see through them. Be aware of all the labels and notions we throw around nonstop. This helps me to relax more and let go knowing that labels and notions are just that. Like the quote of the day says we can either allow these things to keep us in prison or allow ourselves to be liberated. The choice is ours. 2 Reply Hot Sauce1 year agoHot SauceI want to embrace imperfection by getting better each day at forgiving other people and desiring good things even for those who harm others. Everyday, I pray for people who hurt me and others, and I also say affirmations of forgiveness for those who have hurt me each day. That way, I am able to see the humanity in others who are imperfect and am not swallowed by resentment. 3 Reply Maeve1 year agoMaeveI just read what people have posted today regarding this question. Some thoughtful reflections. "Imperfection" sounds very subjective. It's a standard I or others set on me. I guess I can start by acknowledging and accepting my limitations and habits about myself that I don't like: e.g. I get up too late in the morning, I go to bed too late at night; I am someone who gets angered and annoyed very easily. These are not things I like about myself. Maybe I can be more kind in response. Not co...I just read what people have posted today regarding this question. Who is to say what’ perfect and what isn’t. 1 Reply Melissa1 year agoMelissaPeel back the shame and embrace the humanness of imperfection, gain wisdom from the mistakes .Go at it again in a more loving way for all. Imperfection has a negative connotation associated with it. My imperfections make me cute and loveable – say it everyone:) 7 Reply Arleen1 year agoArleenI like that idea. I am unique. I am unique. I am unique. I have to say it over and over before my brain gets it. Thanks!! 1 Reply pkr1 year agopkrAccept and try not to judge. Offer love, kindness and compassion. And laughter. I know what I have achieved in spite of myself so my standards in general are rather high. I have some pretty strong boundaries as a result. It is a constant battle to accept people where they are at when I believe they can do so much better. I’m perfection is a given. It is what we do in spite of it that counts. 2 Reply Patricia1 year agoPatriciaI embrace my imperfection by laughing at my mistakes and finding delight in them. And then, I find I have a *perfect* attitude toward my imperfections. (Wait a minute, isn’t that what I’m trying to avoid?!) 🙂 3 Reply Howie Geib1 year agoHowie GeibI love this question! Noticing imperfection draws attention to what’s next. Imperfection is a sign of my status as a work as yet incomplete. Imperfection feeds humility, which is grounding. I like to think of myself as a “gorgeous mutt.” ? 2 Reply Trish1 year agoTrishMeeting imperfection with lightness & love seems to work the best for me. We all do & say such ridiculous things and there’s great humor there if we choose to see it. I’m a unique being, as we all are. When I crazy love myself, with all my flaws & quirks, the world gets to see how beautiful imperfection truly is. 4 Reply sunnypatti1 year agosunnypattiAcceptance. Compassion. Gratitude.
