Ha, the question answers itself. Simple things are a joy. 8 Reply nadders11 months agonaddersSimple things: having a shower and then putting on clean pyjamas and get into bed with clean sheets. 7 Reply sb11 months agosbIt is wonderful to see how inspiring simple things can be and how much we all (on this site) appreciate them. It would make the world a happier place if everyone could take the time to do the same. For me, my favourite joy-bringing simple things are nature – the plants, wildlife, views and sounds; sitting out, as now, on a summer evening, listening to wonderful music; a hot bath; a thoughtful gesture of my husband; my cat…… 6 Reply Butterfly11 months agoButterflyI was feeling too ill and tired to write anything on here earlier today but I have come back to read everyone’s comments and there is a big smile on my face 😊 All of your comments have brought me joy today. Thankyou ❤️ 10 Reply Palm11 months agoPalmToday I enjoyed making yogurt using a conservation oven I made out of a shoebox. Seeing that it worked and then eating the yogurt brought me ridiculous joy. Today I also enjoyed working on my laptop at the book shop, eating chocolate croissant and listening to beautiful music. 10 Reply Cheryle11 months agoCheryleWow that yoghurt machine sounds fascinating! 2 Reply Palm11 months agoPalmhaha Cheryle! it’s so simple, if you like I can post a picture on the Lounge page. Thanks for the smile 1 Reply Don Jones11 months agoDon JonesA wagging tail. 8 Reply MHS11 months agoMHSI have found so much joy in birdwatching since covid came. I’m to the point of feeding hummingbirds from my hand, and they even rest on my finger at times. It is absolutely incredible and awe inspiring. I start and end my day with them. 10 Reply Cheryle11 months agoCheryleThat is amazing. I haven’t seen a humming bird since I lived in Nth America 25 years ago! To think they land on your hand that is so beautiful! 1 Reply sb11 months agosboh wow! Awe inspiring! 4 Reply Palm11 months agoPalmLovely MHS, I want to try that 4 Reply Linda11 months agoLindaIt makes me happy to see bees visiting my flowers. Seeing my friends. Greeting my husband in the morning. Looking at the trees outside my window. Breathing fresh air. So many things bring me joy. 8 Reply Ose11 months agoOseSo much; calling my beloved sister and share or just inform one another about daily stuff; sitting in the train and instead of flying, having the opportunity to traveling to visit my father for his 92nd birthday; arranging all the details for his birthday celebration together with my siblings; cleaning the house and declutter; cooking together with dear friends; just arriving soon where I have to change trains so I stop here with greetings to all of you 🙂 5 Reply Palm11 months agoPalmDear Ose, I am happy for you, wishing your father and the family a lovely day 5 Reply Lauryn11 months agoLaurynNature. Whenever I’m out on a hike…. Or when I’m camping and the day slows down.. I take time cooking and reading. Coffee….the first sip after making a fresh pot. Music. 4 Reply Elaine11 months agoElaineOh my goodness., everywhere! All the time! Morning tea, the presence of my husband, yellow begonias on the patio, cry of gull. eagle, oyster catcher as I sit by the sea on a hand hewn bench, evening walk to see the sunset. swimming in the sea, the almost full moon, fresh fruit from local farms, homemade granola and so much more. Blessings all. 5 Reply Carol11 months agoCarolFeeding the birds and making sure they have water in the bird bath. Choosing flowering plants and watching them grow and bloom. Though it is much more challenging for me these days, I still love taking a walk, waving and greeting neighbors and strangers. Listening to music while I bake. Sharing what I bake with neighbors and family. I love to sing and to dance. Don’t do it as well as I used to but am thankful for the memories. 7 Reply Jitendra Goswami11 months agoJitendra Goswamii find the joy whenever people are smiling with bottom of heart. specific when i know someone’s background and i know how much they had pain i find the joy to create their smiles and i really did that so many times. i find my self to make someone happy who’s in the pain. and really i got appriciate for it so many times thank you god. 7 Reply Nelson11 months agoNelsonSunrises and sunsets. Similar to many responses, I love the peacefulness of my mornings. I actually notice the small things around me, like birds chirping and how fresh the air is. With sunsets, I love watching the sky change colors and temperature dip. It’s something about knowing the day is closing and I feel complete for that day. 9 Reply Michele11 months agoMicheleI enjoy sunsets and the change in colors too. Your response also made me remember a song from Fiddler on The Roof, Sunrise Sunset. My grandparents had an 8 track tape and would play that when I was young, probably 10 yrs old. Thank you:) 1 Reply Holly in Ohio11 months agoHolly in OhioThis is my journal entry from yesterday, as I painted my kitchen ceiling, decluttered my home, cleaned my bathroom, put things away: Today I am grateful for paint, a paint brush, and a roller. How wonderfully we can spruce things up and lift ourselves with a fresh coat of paint in a room! Similarly, I am grateful for trash bags and trash pickup. Even though I try to reduce how much I throw away, I truly appreciate the ability to do so and to simplify my life. Again, it is a real pick me up...This is my journal entry from yesterday, as I painted my kitchen ceiling, decluttered my home, cleaned my bathroom, put things away: Today I am grateful for paint, a paint brush, and a roller. Again, it is a real pick me up to get rid of things by trashing, recycling, or donating items! (or selling). Today I am grateful for a washing machine where I am washing my sheets today. I’m grateful for a new kitchen sink that doesn’t leak and for dish soap and a biodegradable sponge! I’m grateful for a broom and vacuum cleaner! I’m grateful for a shower and bathtub, too, to get myself clean after all of this cleaning! Ah, the laughter! 8 Reply Mary Pat11 months agoMary PatLike others, there are so many things! I, too, get up early to enjoy the quiet of the day. To hear the birds first thing makes me so happy. Then that first cup of coffee. Seeing our dog laying there, eyes on me but not demanding anything from me, just filled with love, “hearing” the silence….and now that I have done the question for today, onward I go to start a meditation. Blessings on you all today! 6 Reply Katrina11 months agoKatrinaI find joy in the fragrance and warmth of that first sip of coffee each morning; the beauty of a garden that I didn't plant, but that I tend; the face or voice of any of my children or grandchildren; the laughter of children everywhere; getting a new haircut; watching the bunnies chase each other in my backyard; cloud formations; icebox coconut cream pie; lakes/rivers/oceans; babies sleeping on my chest; my dog first thing in the morning and just before we go to bed; oh - and my husband's love f...I find joy in the fragrance and warmth of that first sip of coffee each morning; the beauty of a garden that I didn’t plant, but that I tend; the face or voice of any of my children or grandchildren; the laughter of children everywhere; getting a new haircut; watching the bunnies chase each other in my backyard; cloud formations; icebox coconut cream pie; lakes/rivers/oceans; babies sleeping on my chest; my dog first thing in the morning and just before we go to bed; oh – and my husband’s love for me. Throughout the day, I smile from ear to ear when I hear my children laugh. It warms my heart. We as a society need to laugh more. My husbands hugs and affection. Walks in nature, feet in the sand on the beach, listening to all sorts of sounds around us and so much more. 10 Reply Holly in Ohio11 months agoHolly in OhioAgreed!
