I just moved so I am getting acquainted with this community. I recently attended a music event that was “donate what you wish” at the university. My company does many community events like “back to school backpacks” for families in need. I have volunteered to help with that annual event. I try to buy local as much as I can to support the community. I also volunteer for events at my church for the community

Today just offering some slices of fresh pears to kids who were a bit tired from intense play for their joy and refreshment.

I have taken the time to write a personal account of a mastery way of being. It has taken a while but is a deeply considered exploration of the topic and its impact in my life. It might encourage someone to explore the ideas for themself.

Many thanks to those whose reflections helped me to gain a better understanding of community- as having many facets for light to reflect the goodness that we are at our most brilliant hearts.. What communities do I participate in- a food co-op, meditation group, study group, taichi group, friendships, neighbourhood, municipality, shared experiences… places and spaces that I occupy. I participate in the various roles the best that I can at the time.

My first reaction was “How does one define the term “my community?” I decided that “my community” includes everyone and everything that crosses my path mentally, physically, and emotionally. I said to myself, “Be kind, Carol. Always be kind.”

Try to help someone if I see they might need help. Try to be a safe driver and watch out for those who aren’t. Pick up trash. Try to vote to help others.

First off, I have to say I LOVE the photo for the Word For The Day!! Absolutely beautiful:)
Community – which one?? I’m female – I support females when voting; lesbian – I support LGBT; animal lover – I support that with donations; work – organ/tissue donation – I support and address becoming a donor, as well as, MLT/lab week and medical cannabis; 5Ks – I support local charities/events for those ; this Grateful community by having it become my daily routine; USA citizen – support our freedoms and rights by voting. My Timoney Irish Dance community – I support them anyway I can; I’m sure there are many other communities but those are what come to mind.

Ahhh, good question. The work that I’ve
been doing for the past few years, has
been all about me, and I feel the need
for more connection with the new
    community I’m living in.
However, I do help out with two of my
    elderly neighbors. This definitely brings
me joy and makes me feel connected
    and helpful.

Being completely housebound and mostly bedbound that is quite a challenging question for me. I am so glad, though, that when I was less ill than I am now I started a writers group. At first we met in each others homes, then as the membership increased we moved into a room in the town’s community centre. I had to give up my part in it many years ago as I became more disabled, but I am so happy to know that that group is still going strong 30 years later and now they organise literary festivals in the town. You never know when you a plant seed whether it will grow but it’s lovely when it does 😊

I live in a rural spot of Colorado. I do as much of my purchasing as I can with family owned businesses. I often stop to give rides to folks who are walking into town. 12 miles to La Jara, 26 miles to both Alamosa and Antonito, whom for any number of reasons do not have transportation. Our place has 1/2 mile frontage on a county road and I pick up the trash that accumulates twice a year. I reflect and read others reflections daily in this community. Donate to a several organizations that help support the downtrodden be that in the physical or mental way. Thank you all who share here daily…it always helps me.

Within my community as a resident, I contribute as an elected Town Meeting member.
Within my spiritual community, I contribute as a Recorded Quaker Minister among our members, and occasionally beyond to the wider community.
