My dog joyously running what I call “happy circles” comes to mind. How blessed I am to be his witness 3 Reply Michael G Libby1 year agoMichael G LibbySpending time in nature and seeing how nature has taken some things back, Listening to stories of people from other cultures and simplifying being thankful for what they have taught me. 4 Reply Hot Sauce1 year agoHot SauceSpending time in nature, reading sacred texts, studying world spirituality, eating ethnic cuisine, reading, attending worship services, traveling, studying various forms of mystical experiences, watching or participating in theater, running, watching television or films that force me to ask philosophical questions, celebrating holidays, and learning about mythology all connect me to a sense of the sacred. 3 Reply Kat1 year agoKatStillness, allows me to experience the quiet, steady, peace and calm within. Ritual helps me remember the mystery of life. 4 Reply pkr1 year agopkrThe sky, clouds, the moon, stars, trees, redwood trees especially, birds singing, my cat, the dark quiet upon awakening, thanking Source for another beautiful day when I wake, my prayers first thing and then my last thing at sleep time, meditating, flowers, changing leaves, sunsets, dogs, babies, laughter, my 94 yr. old mom, my giving brother, my daughter, her voice, her beautifulness. I could go on and on here. For me sacred is Everywhere, it is All. 5 Reply Allyson1 year agoAllysonBeing outside with the tree’s. With the birds sound, hearing an owl hoot, watching my dogs run and sniff things, seeing rocks. Seeing a flower bloom, feeling the wind on my skin. Hugging my loved ones. 4 Reply Mica1 year agoMicaWhat a Lovely yin-yang-ish Logo, Allyson – thanks! … it’s even more delightful when I look at it, full-sized, on your page, and see that the black dot is a bird! and the lower part is sea, as well as tree roots – more thanks, and hugs! 2 Reply Cheryl Read1 year agoCheryl ReadDaily tai chi chih and meditation. 4 Reply Ann1 year agoAnnPausing, then remembering that as a wave is never not part of the ocean and that things are not always as they seem to appear to be, that I’m never not connected to that which appears to be, and often defined as sacred as if it is something separate needing to feel connected to, never actually is separate. That is, remembering that, regardless of limiting appearances, beliefs and concepts, I’m always connected. 7 Reply Wiltrud1 year agoWiltrudMeditation, mass, sometimes Bach or a mantra, an early morning impression of nature in the countryside, a coincidence that seems to be a gift from heaven, children’s laughter and eyes full of the joy of living, the wisdom and grace of a friend , “old souls” I have met in meditation classes or listened to, first flowers at the end of winter the birth of a child. 5 Reply 1 year agowhenever I am touched by someone or something, I feel connected to the sacred: beauty of nature, acts of kindness, courageous acts for the good, company of spiritual teacher and friends, pain that forces me to surrender, magic stones, shrine rooms and holy statues...... and every now and then something completely unexpected: one scene comes to mind, about 25 years ago, I was traveling and in a city that I have forgotten, a young man preached about God in a park, and the sacredness was tangible...whenever I am touched by someone or something, I feel connected to the sacred: beauty of nature, acts of kindness, courageous acts for the good, company of spiritual teacher and friends, pain that forces me to surrender, magic stones, shrine rooms and holy statues…… and every now and then something completely unexpected: one scene comes to mind, about 25 years ago, I was traveling and in a city that I have forgotten, a young man preached about God in a park, and the sacredness was tangible : the colors were brighter, the movements of the leaves slower, the whole scene had a touch of a dream…. in this time of my life I was not connecting to any religion or spiritual practice, so I was truly astonished ?… ever so grateful for being equipped with unknown senses to experience sacredness Read More4 Reply Linda Lawrey1 year agoLinda LawreyThe connection for me is strongest when I attend Mass with an open heart ready to listen to the word of God. Other things that connect me are nature and my grandchildren. 3 Reply Laura May1 year agoLaura MayI too, must echo previous reflections to this question, and agree with nature being something that connects me to a sense of the sacred. The wind in the trees when walking through the woods, heavy rain on tarmac, the laughter of a loved one, the cold bite of the autumn/winter air. 5 Reply Michele1 year agoMicheleNature; the beauty of the architecture of churches and stained glass windows, lighting of candles (love doing that on this website); cemeteries 5 Reply GCharlotte1 year agoGCharlotteLiving life and my experiences of childhood thereafter with friends and familyconnect me with the sacred. An example is the birth of my daughter with my husband in the natural birth room. Another moment in life would be with my neighborhood friends playing kick the ball in the neighborhood yards. 3 Reply Sylvie1 year agoSylvieBeing on a short holiday to Zürich, I had the possibility to take part in a Taize prayer last night in the Grossmünster krypta. 20 people from all over the world sharing a contemplation of the sacred and connecting with each other. Beautiful! Thank you to those who offered the gathering ? 7 Reply Pilgrim1 year agoPilgrimSuch a gift, dear Sylvie! 4 Reply Tom Denham1 year agoTom DenhamSo far today I have known the sacred in my dog coming to nose me and cuddle with me before getting out of bed, a cold glass of water, praying the morning liturgy, praying for the saints in and around my life, kneeling to pray the Prayer Jesus taught us, and coming to this site and responding to this question. 4 Reply Carla1 year agoCarlaHaving a visit with another who’s trusting me with their story; journaling; gathering together for sharing Liturgy; singing; grocery shopping & seeing the variety of fruits & veggies in our world. Being around children & their spontaneity; being around Elders & hearing their wisdom. Peter Mayer sings it best-“everything is Holy.” 5 Reply Anneclaire1 year agoAnneclaireOddly, mortality.
