I just try to be me and appreciate the good I contribute through being me. I’m a very optimistic person that sees the best in others, the world, and can find pages of positive to say about even people others really dislike. As I get older I realize that’s really rare!! So I try to share with others my enthusiasm for their positive qualities. Said in front of the child. We all then raise our arms with a celebratory superhero call of” Tah, Dada, Duh-Duh-Daaaah”… I also do this exercise as it helps me appreciate what I uniquely bring to the table. 4 Reply GCharlotte1 year agoGCharlotteI may treaure the uniqueness of who I am by being close to God through prayer and worship by read His great Books so by doing this I may offer myself to the world. Being close to God I am uniquely loved by Him by who I am alone and with others like my parents and family at best. 2 Reply Present Moment1 year agoPresent MomentI am grateful for life. And that’s enough time spent on treasuring my uniqueness. I look outward when I have a surplus of love to give. I’m very tired of the ” me, me” focus. Let me delight in the other. 5 Reply 1 year ago? 1 Reply Ian1 year agoIanI can treasure my uniqueness best when I don’t take myself so seriously. I am much more open to loving and relating to the world when I take a deep breath, find the humor in life and am freely able to laugh at myself in a healthy way. 4 Reply Kat1 year agoKatBy making time to celebrate growth and contribution – with others and alone. 3 Reply Elizabeth M Jones1 year agoElizabeth M JonesBy being myself and trusting that self will be a blessing. Trusting that that is enough. MY unique self a gift to the world. 4 Reply Hot Sauce1 year agoHot SauceI can treasure the uniqueness of who I am by remembering my story. It is a long one, but it is one that is important and that gives clues about my purpose in life and who I am meant to be, as well as where I am heading, as well as what my collective dharma to humanity is. Remembering my story helps me to understand where I am headed. 4 Reply Francine Marie Tolf1 year agoFrancine Marie TolfAs a poet, my immediate response was “through my work, ” but the larger answer is, by being, living and writing as authentically as possible. 5 Reply Sheila1 year agoSheilaDear Francine, I have read some of your poems and they are beautiful! They come from your heart. ? May your day be blessed.? 2 Reply Francine Marie Tolf1 year agoFrancine Marie TolfThank you, Shelia, your words mean so much. 2 Reply Sarah1 year agoSarahBy being still and listening to my true voice. 3 Reply Linda1 year agoLindaI have come to the realization that while I am a kind person, I am not necessarily a nice person. I have berated myself for that, but I am coming to realize that I have strengths beyond niceness, that I can evaluate a situation and determine how and if I can help. In the past, niceness was my goal and I often misjudged situations to my detriment, just trying to be “nice.” 3 Reply Journey1 year agoJourneyI know I am unique. I believe God looked into my mother's womb and specially wove me and wrote every day of my life. I believe I am unique and that God has a plan for me. An Eastern philosopher put this differently "God has knelt down in whatever spot you are right now and put an X on it with your name on it. You are here because you are meant to be here, it was designed by the Divine One". An Eastern philosopher put this differently “God has knelt down in whatever spot you are right now and put an X on it with your name on it. You are here because you are meant to be here, it was designed by the Divine One”. While I firmly believe I am unique, I have not been able to identify who I am and what I might share with the world. I ask myself this question very often but fail to come up with an answer. I don’t have any talents I can easily identify that will add value to the world. I know I am funny and my friends and colleagues laugh especially when I make fun of myself but that’s hardly adding value. I truly dont know how to understand who I am and what I might share. Any suggestions on how I can identify this will be truly welcome. Thank you all. Laughter is a gift that we receive and can be given as you do. As for myself I think just by inquiring about who I am adds value to the world. It is part of my purpose and a talent. Doing the often difficult work to understand who we are adds value to the world. It may not always seem like it, but I feel you are on the right path. 1 Reply Journey1 year agoJourneyThank you for the insight Tom. This was much needed 🙂 0 Reply Journey1 year agoJourneyThank you Maya for the insight. 1 Reply Maya1 year agoMayaDear Journey, making people laugh is one of the most beautiful gifts you can make. They value it – I hope you’ll be able to see that, too.Thank you. 2 Reply Tom1 year agoTomTreasuring my own uniqueness has been a journey. Often I stray from the path that has led me to my true self. I think it is part of human nature to attempt to fit in at times to the detriment of our true selves. Accepting my uniqueness allows me to know that I am necessary to the tapestry that makes up the world. If I do not share myself in my unique way, then myself, and the world are a bit diminished during those moments. I am always allowed to begin again in my unique way. 8 Reply Francine Marie Tolf1 year agoFrancine Marie TolfTom, we all stray from the path of our true self. Thank you being honest enough to admit it! 2 Reply Rena Barker1 year agoRena BarkerSelf-inquiry, what’s going on externally and internally. What’s arriving me emotionally physically and mentally. I believe in ethical conduct and this may fall under the category of no discrimination which I would say is absolutely necessary when we are in a political arena. 1 Reply Samuel1 year agoSamuelWith the term “politically correct” I attempted to convey the popular notion of insisting on the “comfort” of uniformity at the expense of recognizing the values of diversity. Our differences sometimes can be uncomfortable to each other but are still worthy of respect and consideration by all. sb 5 Reply My Private Gratitude Journal Write an entry in your private gratefulness journal Get Started This site is brought to you by A Network for Grateful Living, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
