By fully living it as God wills it to be, by cultivating the gifts it can bring as a fully-fledged life for those other lives I touch and by caring for this home while I am here.

Today I will stop to give thanks for
all that I have and all that I have
    experienced. Additionally, I have some
time to take care of myself with yoga and
meditation. Thank you all for being here. 🙏

By using my caring and talent to help make the world a bit better for others. My work in transportation safety allows me to do this; the question is a reminder to appreciate what I’m doing with the hours in this day rather than just looking at my jam-packed schedule full of meetings and feeling rushed even before the work day starts.

I can show appreciation by being mindful of my thoughts. Let’s face it. No matter what is happening in our lives, the biggest battles are always the battles we rage within and I have come to realizes that I need not wage those inner battles alone. Why, because life has proved to be trustworthy. How did I discover this? Paradoxically, I discovered it through surrender to “what is.” When I refuse to resist life, when I give up fighting and fleeing, I am more creative because I am going with the flow. I appreciate the gift of living today. Sometimes it feels like I am trudging; sometimes it feels like I cannot put one foot in front of the other but those are thoughts. I’ve learned that if I trust in this moment and this moment, I do not wage my inner battles alone. No inner thought storm need own me. The fish may swim, the thoughts may rage, but I will rest in calm waters. My son puts it this way. “Mama, you can’t live your life on “what ifs.” May we all forsake the “what ifs” and surrender to “what is” with trust and compassion for ourselves and others. I close with a quote I found helpful: “Eventually it will be seen that all thoughts are resistance. They are all images that the mind has made to prevent us from experiencing what actually is. When we have been letting go for a while and have begun experiencing what is really going on, we will laugh at our thoughts. Thoughts are fakes, absurd make-beliefs that obscure the truth. Pursuing thoughts can keep us occupied endlessly. We will discover one day that we are right where we started. Thoughts are like gold fish in a bowl; the real Self is like the water. The real Self is the space between the thoughts, or more exactly, the field of silent awareness underneath all thoughts.”
