He has helped to add love to my kids and my life again. Animals are so wonderful and Simba is truly a family member. He is the hairy brother. 🙂 6 Reply Mica1 year agoMica‘hairy brother’ – thank you Antoinette! 2 Reply Trish1 year agoTrishI’m so grateful for my cat, Cordelia. I met her at an adoption event. Her foster mom actually had to zip home to get her bc she would’ve been too nervous to be at the event~she suffers from anxiety. She was so small & soft and tucked her little head into my arm when I held her. I was smitten!! Cordelia has been there when I needed a friend, she’s seen me at my worst & ugliest and she has loved me through it all. Cordelia has been there when I needed a friend, she’s seen me at my worst & ugliest and she has loved me through it all. Cordelia’s passions include zooming across the wooden floors & leaving little Pom Pom balls as gifts: in my shoes, my drawer, the toilet…. She’s my girl. And what a great name, Cordelia! 3 Reply Trish1 year agoTrishThank You~she’s so darling! 3 Reply Cathy1 year agoCathyI am most grateful for my 85# Doberman, Rocco. He is Velcro and my biggest advocate and protector. While those attributes are nice, what grips my soul is the way he looks at me. He looks me right in the eyes and holds the gaze, communicating what seems like a soul to soul conversation that is felt, not spoken. I just remain quiet during those times, in the moment with him. I love most all animals but my heart overflows with gratitude for Rocco. 7 Reply Mark Piper1 year agoMark PiperI grew up with dogs. Collies. We got a cat. My daughter named her Rapunzel-Rainbowdash-Cutiepie. The cat sometimes acts like a dog, and comes up to me late every evening for a scritch and scratch behind her ear. I am grateful for Rapunzel the cat. 8 Reply Mica1 year agoMicaThank you, Mark! I sent your post to my 9-yr-old granddaughter, who is into names like that – often containing something like Rainbow Unicorn. Enjoy! 1 Reply Cathy1 year agoCathyI love cats, too, Mark. After nearly 20 years of listening to my husband say, “I don’t like cats,” Gizmo adopted my husband a few years ago and has lived with us ever since! 3 Reply 1 year agoI once read an article that a detainee in Guantanamo was punished (with solitary confinement if I recall it right) after he has been observed feeding a little bird with bread crumbs. can you imagine? tears well up when I just think about it. we so much seek connection, and animals are sentient beings just like us, so to connect to them is natural and joyous. I kind of love them all. what makes them so precious to me is that they are who they are, no masks, no pretense. I kind of love them all. what makes them so precious to me is that they are who they are, no masks, no pretense. I have wonderful childhood memories of cats, cows, dogs, birds, turtles etc. my parents were very open and caring in this regard. now that my life does not allow me to have my own pet due to frequent travels, I connect to animals ‘on the way’ a lot. actually I’ve come to care for the six- leggd lately. and I’d like to honor my dog Aisha here, she comforted my children a lot when we had difficult times in our family Read More5 Reply Pilgrim1 year agoPilgrimI am grateful for the creative array of animals that roam the earth, inhabit the waters and skies, and those that live in households as companions. I am grateful for my daughter’s service dog. I am a little annoyed that dogs are put in practically every tv commercial in order to sell products that have nothing to do with dogs. 4 Reply Michele1 year agoMicheleBesides cats, I have to say bats. I LOVE bats. I’m grateful that they love to eat mosquitoes:) I think they are cute. I have a tattoo of one. I donate to bat charities. They are an important species to our planet. One of my bucket list is to hold one one day. 8 Reply Mica1 year agoMicaWhat fun – thanks for sharing, Michele! I love spiders but not as much as you love bats. My lab did successful research on spider silk that got nice publicity. I can’t remember whether I particularly liked spiders before that. 1 Reply Present Moment1 year agoPresent MomentI, too, honor bats I grew up in a house with an attic space full of them. Occasionally one would find its way downstairs. We all knew how to wait until it had settled on a curtain or cupboard, scoop it up in a towel and release it outside in summer, or back into the attic in winter. 3 Reply devy1 year agodevyI no longer have a pet but previously I had a Great Dane over two separate occasions, as well as cats when I was younger. My flat mate has a cat and it a really high-strung Siamese that screams for attention pretty much constantly so I generally don’t feel grateful for its presence! But I’m trying to appreciate it more. I guess I’d say I’m grateful for my elderly aunt’s cat. My aunt is having a tough time at the moment and the cat gives her a lot of comfort. 6 Reply Michele1 year agoMicheleI grew up with Siamese cats my entire life. They are the most loving, intelligent and beautiful breed of cats. My mom had 4 at one point:) 5 Reply Toby1 year agoTobyYes, she is a stunning animal. Demanding! But very loving 🙂 3 Reply Kevin1 year agoKevinI found it hard to choose just one animal! But if I must choose only one, for me it has to be dogs, and especially our dog, Gracie. She’s blind, and she sees right through me. 6 Reply Pilgrim1 year agoPilgrimHa! You gave me a laugh first thing in the morning – thanks! 3 Reply Mica1 year agoMicaMe too! An out-loud laugh, which is rare – thanks, Kevin! 1 Reply « Previous 1 2 My Private Gratitude Journal Write an entry in your private gratefulness journal Get Started This site is brought to you by A Network for Grateful Living, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
