Gratefulness
Here’s a poem I wrote recently on the lighter side of cloud watching.
Walking in the Neighborhood Sonya Gonzalez
early morning walks are best keeps us energized rest of day
plopping on big floppy caps we venture out for our walkabout
don’t do walks on Monday …we like Mondays to be sedate or hot temperatures or heavy rain or fog
best to select the date that our aching muscles motivate really dictate
usually can predict what we’ll encounter when turning the corner at Nantucket way
but— today pink and yellow clouds shaped like animal crackers flowers and birds abound
maybe tomorrow we’ll see giraffe or chimpanzee clouds and I’ll write a poem to you about it
but– today it’s pink elephants mama and baby flowers birds and of course what usually follows…bees
I discovered that I cannot compose on the spot poetry, because I have to paint it first, which is done in silence, and which takes time, sometimes days. The words will come from somewhere, at some point, in the silence. James, this workshop has been meaningful to me, and will continue to keep your words and thoughts with me as I proceed. Grateful to you and Gratefulness for this ecoiurse. Sonya

Cool, rainy outside Warm kitty inside Cat loaf on floral cushion Me in the middle. Sounds of droplets splattering sidewalk Purring sounds Both Rhythmic Harmonious Comforting.
Good rain Peace Pausing Listening Thunder Gray day Rain drops Creek flowing
Felt somewhere Between ocean and moon- Lost- found But Bird awakens me out of lull. Brass bell– reminds me of Angels of the Hours and its helpfulness to pause.
