Gratefulness
I let go of the illusion of control and I look mostly to just what is around me to be grateful for.
Times of quiet; my husband who also practices and reflects on the life of the spirit…. God’s Creation all around me. Resources like this website….
Hope.
Having the image of coming to this day with my hands empty helps me to be open and to receive the unfolding of the day.
I had the image just now of not “facing” something, but walking side by side with it. Perhaps that image is most helpful to me – not being n an oppositional “facing it” stance but learning from and walking with some anger, sadness and weariness.
The question itself implies dissatisfaction with what is. So when I stop being dissatisfied, I can come to terms (and a renewed satisfaction) with what IS.
The opportunity to be – yet again – grateful for my home, my husband, my dog and my health (not necessarily in that order!).
This question reminds me.
When needed, face my own shortcomings. Be fearless and forgiving toward myself and others.
Up early with our old dog. Coffee. Gratitude. My life’s companion nearby. Planning to create. Planning to cook. Drying seeds to save for the spring. Waiting for the sun and then the snow.
All of my tomorrows depend on who I am today, how I act, what I do. So I’ll just pay attention to the now, and do my best.
Today, I think of journalists world-wide who are persecuted and killed for telling the truth. I deeply admire their courage for revealing what those in power do not want revealed.
Having a good night of sleep improves my capacity for presence, for kindness, for almost everything good in my life.
i just want to look at things with grateful eyes today.
One doesn’t just stick a toe in the water – you run the length of the pier and just jump in!
To sit and listen to the mystery; to be grateful; to be a good steward of the gift of my body…. even as it ages. (Even as I age….) To be compassionate toward myself as I age. To continue to trust.
What a wonderful day! My celebratory wishes and prayers for your continued loving life together are flying across the miles to you this morning. Congratulations and blessings, Kevin and Betty Ann!
You are wise, Christine. I will remember your words.
Oh dear, Christine! I’d better not look down at my floor because I don’t feel like sweeping – and it almost always needs sweeping1! 🙂 But your response did make me laugh – the practical realities of life are always there for us, aren’t they?!
You really need to tell Doctor Proud of His Work that he needs to stick with medicine and skip his dreams of stand-up comedy.
