My partner and our shared life together
I listened to “good” and “bad” are incomplete stories we tell ourselves on gratefulness.org this morning, I will reflect on that TED talk on a deep, tired old narrative today and pray for a shift.
In the meantime it is a beautiful early fall day with much to embrace, celebrate, savour, perhaps that is enough!
Listening to lively children playing on the street is inspiring after a bit of a tough day.
Also a young team of dermatologists who worked kindly and skillfully together to remove a small slice of my arm today, They were patient, kind and thoughtful in trying to make an aesthetic incision, and took great care with the stitches to make it a tasteful scar. Time will tell. That said, I am grateful for the human kindness and skill they brought to their day, and my arm!
My family, friends, community and Mother Nature.
To keep returning to and grounding in my own inner connection with self, spirit, life … and to live more solidly anchored, grounded, connected with, true to that deep inner place. From there I can more easily and best connect, serve, savour and enjoy life as the simple, wee creature Spirit made me. 🐌🐾🌺🏔🦋🌊….
Thich Nhat Hanh says that love is about understanding. It seems helpful and wise to keep returning to my own inner truth, experience, self care and self compassion – learning and practicing to ground in my own being, thoughts, feelings and needs in relation to others. Without doing that first and along the way, things tend to go askew. Then there is the reaching across, listening, hearing, engaging, understanding. I do hope to keep learning and improving. It seems like hard work so...

the list is long …
I keep returning to my own centre, to find and honour my own sense of deep meaning, purpose, truth, feelings and needs. I have a quick, impulsive reaction when I am bothered by things, and or a long brooding one that needs shifting and refocus again and again. Yeh for challenging life experiences. So much for the saint prize 🙃 🙃🙃😊 … KC
Bird song and chirping. Not so much crows. Water – lapping, ebbing and flowing on the seashore, a pounding surf, the trickle of a stream, a single canoe paddling of a quiet lake, rain … people singing, alone or together. The sound of a cello …
I wonder whether it means to embrace and be open to our diversity and differences, and to realize that underneath and behind these differences we are all much the same. We all want and need many / most of the same things, even though/ as they get lost in translation so easily and often.
Get out of my comfy chair. Give thanks, Move on with the day! 🌞🐌🌱🌷🌊…
Keep showing up to writing, drawing, yoga, walking and the moment to moment, day to day …; relax, share, embrace and celebrate the journey with others; keep going and trust the process; think of others and share / give as much as I can when / as / where I feel called; ask for and accept help when. / as I need it; practice gratitude, generosity, sustainability… and never, ever give up! 🌞🐌🌱🌷🌊…
kindness. thoughtfulness. generosity. sustainability. truth. beauty. courage. solitude, stillness and silence. relationships, friendship and community. creative process and expression. joy!
I can practice inner stillness, deep presence and listening. From there, who knows!? 🌞🐌🌱🌷🌊…
Dear Mary, I am so sorry to hear of the loss to Ursula in the Gratitude Lounge and the Gratefulness community. It is a few years since I connected with her hear, but I was touched by her beautiful soul and the bright, cheerful red image she had as her icon. Such a lovely way to honour her and your love for her by learning more about St. Francis. Much love to you and others to honour and mourn her passing. Warmly, KC 🙏🏻
Sounds like you are in full flight … I hope you are able to find the wee perches you need to rest along the way… and that you are able to find lots of joy, delight and new discoveries through all the changes. Warmly, KC
🙏🏻 So true. Blessings as you practice offering yourself tender loving care…
Francine Marie, Thank you so much! You have captured the feeling and experience of water with such grace! I was in your beautiful part of the world last summer, and loved the immediacy and presence of water. The Mississippi is an elegant force, and Lake Itasca was inspiring. I can only imagine all those lakes, animals and humans waking up to Springtime once again. I love your poetry. Please, do keep writing and sharing! … Warmly, KC
Thanks Ed. Is there a version of the I Ching that stands out for you? I like the line “it is not swashbuckling prowess or uncanny talent that qualifies you for this office, but your simple gifts”. Such wisdom! Warmly, KC
