Comparison. Comparing how I “stack up” in the world is the one thing that consistently attempts to derail me from living into the truth that I am a unique and extraordinary person. I love this question because it reminds me to ponder how I can appreciate each person’s uniqueness along with my own, while not falling into the trap of comparing myself to others or judging another person’s life.
When I appreciate the connection I have with others, my thought decision making shifts from being self-centered to being more of an other-centered mentality. Pausing to reflect on just how good it is to have a meaningful human connection has a way of tenderizing my heart and sparking a desire to seek unity and togetherness. This question reminds me that I must incorporate more space into my life to appreciate the magnificent people around me and the connections I share with them.
