Gratefulness
Keep being grateful!
By being human. By being vulnerable. By being heart-minded. By caring for others. By caring for yourself. By being gentle to others. By being gentle to yourself.
Not sure why, but this quote immediately came to mind when I read the question.
People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway.
What you spend years creatin...
What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight. Create anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, will often be forgotten. Do good anyway.
Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway.
In the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.
~Mother Teresa
People are ungrateful, be grateful anyway
A couple of years ago, I signed up to coach my daughter’s soccer team. I had volunteered a couple of times and felt I could do it. I was a bit nervous about running practices and coaching games on my own. For practices, I would research and try the drills with my daughter and then put them literally “into practice.” For games, we just take it one step at a time. The experience was tough at times – bad weather, postponements, injuries, sick kids, etc. But I was so glad I too...

Happy New Year! Time for a new startI have been visiting the website for a number of years, reading the Word for the Day and reading the wonderful blog articles. Just this week, I realized there is a Gratitude Lounge community so I thought I would submit an entry. I am most thankful today for Breath, health and family.Well, grateful living is inspiring me to live gratefully. I have been taking a more positive approach to life in the past couple of years. I have been trying to find ways to embrace gratefulness. Some examples: being more present for my family, helping out more in my church/community/work and not taking anything for granted. I purchased Kristi Nelson’s book “Wake Up Grateful” and have been reading a passage a day to practice gratefulness.A blessing in my life: the rock of family. Not sure how to answer how am I being supported right now. It happens in many ways: my wife and kids help me every day, my co workers help me, my family and friends. I find wonder, awe and the sacred the most in nature. However more and more, I am finding it in a breath, a kind gesture, a bite of delicious food, a loving look, the ordinary is extraordinary as Kristi writes in the book. Wonder, awe and sacredness can be found anywhereThanks for reading my entry. Gratefulness to you
Life
Help others when I can. If I cannot help others, wish them well.
Practice mindfulness. Do things slowly. Breathe. Meditate.
Lovely! Really like the last paragraph
Kristi. This is wonderful! A balm for my soul. Thank you! Is this article an excerpt from the book or its own piece? Either way, I very much look forward to reading the book. Thanks for this site and all you do.
This is a wonderful story. Thank you. Today I had a day of annoyances – schedule conflicts, traffic, systems and things not working. But reading this beautiful story of taking life as a gift puts things in perspective. Blessings to you Imuetinyan! What an inspiration!
Neat positive story about music! I like that this effort is building community. Thanks for sharing
There is a really good book called Heart-Minded by Sarah Blondin. The subtitle is How to Hold Yourself and Others in Love. It’s a treasury of meditations for living from your heart. This practice reminds me of that book.
Gosh we have had to be very resilient during the pandemic, haven’t we? But I like how you say we need to be ALIVE and THRIVE also. We can be alive in different moments with family and friends. We can thrive when we help out in our community – even if it is small actions like wearing a mask or checking in with a friend. And yes, “our ancestors are rooting for us” I like to think , some of whom made it through a pandemic and tough times as well! Thank you
Wonderful reflection!
I had a human moment when I read your essay. I read your sentence as “Let’s Go.” Note the ‘s’. :).
So, “Let’s Go” and “Let Go” then.
Peace
Thank you!
Inspiring story! Thanks for sharing
What is your sport ?
I just became an organ and tissue donor. I am glad I did it. Feels good that I will help someone down the road
