Gratefulness
As it happens, my husband and I are meeting today on zoom with our recently elected MLA (member of Legislative Assembly) for the first time. We will be advocating for greatly enhanced protection of our old growth forests.
Thinking about the “crack in everything” (See my response to Ed’s post below) – non-acceptance of imperfections in myself and others impedes the light from getting through! As my friend BM says Pobody’s nerfect 🙂
I choose life-givers as I can and keep life-sappers to a minimum.
More poems, fewer news articles. More books, fewer screens.
Better for me to attend to expressing thanks in the moment — to friends or family and to those I encounter day by day who serve me and the common good.
Bloom where I am planted.
A crisp sunny winter day beckoning me to the ski trails!
Morning tea Movement Touching Earth
A glass of water Eating an apple Putting down some words
Homemade soup Reading anything worthy Authentic conversation
The unbidden daytime nap Fresh cut flowers Planting bulbs
Noticing that life glows and flows when I do so.

Be calm. Be kind. Be safe.
Here am I still in bed sipping tea in a Dunoon mug called Piazza lovingly prepared by my beloved. Simple joys, small beauties.
My joys and blessings are rich and abundant. I do not take them for granted. The inestimable blessing of health, the joy of finding a life partner in my sixties, financial security after decades of worrying about money, long term and new friendships, championing good politicians, time to learn, make, and play, the freedom to follow the rhythms of my heart and body day by day. Three cheers for the seventies!
Pausing creates the space to respond thoughtfully. A thoughtful response can create authentic connection,
On the other hand, lively flowing spontaneity is fun too!
The ineffable joy and love of them. What else is there?

Ed, you are likely are referring to Leonard Cohen’s iconic song “Anthem” which preaches the acceptance of imperfection. It came out in 1992 on the album “The Future”.
Ring the bells which still can ring Forget your perfect offering There is a crack in everything That’s how the light gets in.
