Gratefulness
Small miracles daily! The latest one, my mom had so many religious statues, sacramentals and articles that we couldn’t take them all. My research told me to bury what we didn’t need anymore in the ground as ground is sacred, or burn them. I had no one or place to dig a whole big enough and metal won’t burn. So I put off what to do because I was at a loss! I woke up yesterday knowing to take them all to a religious store. Found one not far. I went in and the man ...
I went in and the man took them all and said he would find a good home for everything.
I cannot explain where that thought came from as I was focused on how, where to dig a hole, but amazingly overnight an answer came! A small miracle for me:)
Time with mom.
The way my mind and body kicks into gear to creatively work on challenges. It can be a bit like ricochet rabbit as thoughts and ideas come and go. And if I verbalize these running thoughts I make people crazy, so I think they would be happy to see that idiosyncracy go;) I realize I could probably create the same conclusions if I quietly meditated or walked, but there is something fun and energizing for me when I get “revved” up.
Trees comfort, shade and energize me. I would be uncomfortable living in the plains area. When we lived in Texas I finally found an area with hills and trees! When we moved in, I realized many of the trees were stressed, so I called a tree company for help. They hung IV bags on them and fed them for months. Years later, I returned to see our old home and the trees were still there and healthy! We try to take care of our trees for all they do for us.
Being moral to me means having goodness and doing right by others! So that deepens my sense of gratitude as it seems goodness, right by others and gratitude just all goes together to live a life steeped in deep gratefulness.
I am taking my mom to see her sister today . Her sister is in an Alzheimer’s home and it will probably be the last time she sees her. So I will just be sharing my time as daughter and niece with my aunt and mom.
I have been asked this question so many times and so many ways – who is your role model – who is your mentor, etc. I do not have one – never had. I am sure unconsciously many folks have influenced me, but it was always hard enough trying to be my authentic self, finding peace and contentment in my life, that I did not want to try to model “me” after someone else.
Connecting with the joy of others!
Sustains my faith in humanity? In addition to all the acts of kindness I observe, it is The idea that divinity can be housed in us.
Growing up I learned from my parents that there are consequences for wrong choices, but forgiveness was always available if I asked and that love was never at stake – it was never pulled away, it remained a constant no matter what.
Being a grandparent💕
Holding the silence within me when with others.
Possibilities galore right now -driving (91 years young) mom north to finally give up her summer home and be full time now down south – not just a snowbird anymore – too much for her. So possibilities to spend much time together, to reminisce over things, plan for the future and moments to discuss death, I suppose – how she is preparing for or facing that eventuality that at 91+ must seem looming?
Be gentle with myself when others aren’t.
To God, Ultimate Reality, or whatever name you choose, it is there that I go. The Without to comfort and commune with the Within.
Have a positive outlook. It can be contagious!
Appreciate you sharing the quote! A beautiful way to live.
