A Network for Grateful Living (gratefulness.org) is a global non-profit organization offering online and community-based educational programs, practices, and content which inspire and guide a commitment to grateful living, and catalyze the transformative power of personal/social responsibility. We believe that grateful living supports our ability to see wonder and opportunity in every moment, and motivates us to act boldly with love, generosity, and respect towards one another, ourselves, and the Earth.

We are a virtual organization founded in 2000 by Br. David Steindl-Rast and friends. We serve approximately 100,000 unique website visitors per month, and we are growing. Our team currently has six staff residing in New York, Indiana, New Mexico, and Massachusetts, and a small office in Hadley, MA. Our Board of Directors resides throughout the United States and is highly engaged.

Position Overview

A Network for Grateful Living is seeking a Content Strategist to be part of its team. The Content Strategist will shape a meaningful, engaging digital experience of Grateful Living for our growing global community.

The Content Strategist is vital in constructing a cohesive content strategy with a focus on user journeys and digital experience development for all organizational stakeholders. Working with a small, collaborative team, this person will also plan, oversee, and execute the strategy on multiple channels. Supported by a deep library of internal resources and external content partnerships, the content strategist will be responsible for developing a content strategy that aligns our brand narrative and the organization’s mission and strategic objectives. The content strategist will also play the role of a creative and an editor, as this person conceptualizes, curates, and produces content assets* that resonate with stakeholders across earned, owned, and paid platforms, with the aim of driving broadened exposure and adoption of Grateful Living.

*Short-form copywriting including, but not limited to: social media, newsletter and website content introductions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and clarify a consistent brand voice across all content channels.
  • Cultivate a cohesive content marketing strategy targeted at: driving traffic and brand awareness, increasing engagement, generating new subscribers, building on a strong donor base, and retaining activity within an existing community.
  • Work with internal/external collaborators and creative resources to deliver content that is consistent with our mission, brand voice, and strategy.
  • Develop an editorial calendar.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Digital Engagement to regularly measure content performance and distill results to apply data-driven insights to future content strategies.
  • Apply SEO best practices to effectively tailor content to increase reach to a diversified community.
  • Collaborate on the management of all digital publishing channels (including email, social media, and/or external syndications) with a clear understanding of the best content practices on each channel.
  • Ensure successful, timely delivery of all content across email and social media platforms.
  • Establish strategies for media relations, seeking placements in print, broadcast and online channels, and create the corresponding content including press releases, articles, and presentations.
  • Build relationships with external partners (individual creators and organizations) and nurture brand awareness.

Skills and requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Additional spoken languages are a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience creating and editing digital content for target audiences across a variety of digital and social platforms including owned channels as well as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.
  • Skilled at writing and copy editing, including writing in different voices and styles, for a variety of target audiences.
  • Experience in project management and public, media, and influencer relations.
  • Experience in graphic design, illustration, and audio + video. Photographic skills are a plus.
  • Experience with digital marketing functions including SEO, content marketing, social media marketing, email marketing, and PPC marketing a plus.
  • Experience with tools including WordPress, Google Adwords, Facebook Ad Manager, Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Buffer and Canva or other design tools.
  • Ability to work independently and also as part of a collaborative team.
  • A portfolio of work that showcases any and all of the above.

Position:

A Network for Grateful Living: Content Strategist
Reports to Director of Digital Engagement
Full-time/Remote
Starting Salary: $58,000 – $65,000
Health Insurance
Paid Time Off Package

The qualified candidate must have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a virtual team, and be comfortable with tracking work time, activities, and outcomes. Salary commensurate with experience.
